Overview
JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) is the only peer-reviewed scientific video journal that provides visualized experimental methods and scientific articles. Serving the academic, pharmaceutical, and biotech communities, JoVE enhances and accelerates research across numerous scientific fields by presenting experimental procedures in video format. Recognizing the need to modernize their presentation, JoVE commissioned OPTASY to develop a new micro-site that would refresh their online presence while maintaining their esteemed reputation in the scientific community.

Goals & Challenges
JoVE aimed to enhance its digital interface to better serve its users by making its valuable content more accessible and engaging through a newly designed micro-site.
- Modernizing Design: Updating the look and feel of the website to reflect current web standards and improve user engagement.
- Intuitive Navigation: Ensuring that users can easily access videos and articles directly from the homepage and other key pages.
- Brand Consistency: Maintaining JoVE’s established brand identity throughout the new micro-site design.
Solutions
OPTASY took a comprehensive approach to develop a sleek, user-friendly micro-site that aligns with JoVE's mission and audience expectations.
- Custom Design and Theming: Utilized Photoshop for designing the micro-site's layout, followed by theming and development using HTML, SCSS, and jQuery to ensure a modern and responsive design.
- Micro-site Structure Development: Created a structured layout including a homepage, About Us, Contact Us, and two Solutions pages, each designed to facilitate easy access to JoVE’s extensive video content.
- Email Newsletter Design: Developed a visually appealing and functional email newsletter template to enhance audience engagement and communication.
The Results
- Enhanced Visual Appeal: The new micro-site features a modern design that significantly improves the visual presentation and user experience.
- Improved Navigation: Users now benefit from a more intuitive navigation system, making it easier to find and access content quickly.
- Increased User Engagement: The redesign and improved functionality of the micro-site have led to increased user interaction and longer visit durations.
